Messaging Test Tools Development

We have developed and maintain three Army Standard Conformance Test Tools.

  • The United States Message Text Format (USMTF) Test Tool (MTT) is used to monitor and test conformance to the USMTF baseline, MIL-STD-6040.
  • The Combat Net Radio Protocol Test Tool (PTT) is used to monitor, stimulate and test conformance to MIL-STD-188-220.
  • The Variable Message Format (VMF) Test Tool (VTT) is used to test conformance to MIL-STD-6017.

All three Army Standard Test Tools have been certified by the Joint Interoperability Test Center (JITC) and are part of Software Blocking. They help system developers fix interoperability problems early in their systems life-cycle, reducing effort and cost and decreasing the risk of fielding systems with undetected interoperability problems.

These conformance tools are available to all government agencies. Contractors may request and receive these products provided that they have a government sponsor.

To order one of our Messaging Test Tools, go to our Tools Order Form.

Visit our Testing Tools team website for more information on this work, and visit our Interoperability Standards Test Laboratory webpage where we develop, test and support these tools.
